Singing + Crafts + Friends = The Perfect Sunday Morning

Every second Sunday, join us in Golden Gate Park for Community Singing & Crafts — a free, all-voices-welcome gathering led by Damato Performance School.

Arrive by 11:00 am to settle in and connect; we begin at 11:10 am with a guided warm-up. No solos are required — and no experience is needed. Whether you’ve sung for years or just want to shake an egg shaker, you’re welcome here.

After our sing, we walk together to Sunset Commons for crafts, coffee, and conversation.

What to Expect

Arrive by 11:00 → settle in, meet a few new faces. Singing begins at 11:10 with a guided warm-up.

  1. Names & Check-Ins → we learn names and share a short prompt to feel present together.

  2. Circle Singing → layered, rhythmic music where every voice can join — no solos required.

  3. Songbook Singing → uplifting songs from the Damato Songbook, with optional egg shakers or instruments.

  4. Breakout Groups → small circles learn a song and share it back with the whole group.

  5. Closing Song & Reflection → end the music as one voice.

  6. Crafts + Coffee → walk together to Sunset Commons for crafts, conversation, and community.

The community sing is entirely free - optional donations only. Please RSVP so we can prepare the materials for the correct number of people.

  • Absolutely not. Everyone can sing (even if you don’t believe it), and this is large group singing full of supportive people, so you don’t need to be worried about being self conscious at all.

  • Yes! We welcome all acoustic instruments at the community sing. (Basically any instruments that won’t drown out the un-amplified singing voice). We will provide chord sheets for all of our songs. We also have an extra ukulele and guitar, plenty of egg shakers, and whatever other instruments members bring on a given day.

  • We love having kids and pets. If your kids / pets are happy to engage in song and crafts for and hour we are more than happy to have them.

    There is also a playground right next to the community sing.

  • Not at all. In community sing tradition, we learn songs by ear (but do provide lyrics while we’re learning).

    1. Layers, even if you think you won’t need them! It can be chilly in the morning.

    2. Comfortable shoes / clothes for walking and sitting in the park
